I think there's something in this, John. It is treating the symptoms rather than the cause [in line with much of modern medicine] - but as Vic showed, that is not easy to do with the vested power in industry and slack legislators along with them. A snap of the fingers stops my hum OK -but not for long, as you well know. Perhaps there is a subliminal level below hearing that could be continuously generated to give bad cases a break during sleep, which is the critical time for most sufferers. >From my experience, shipborne noise is wideband- unlike hum.
