Hi Chris,

Are you saying that your experience of the hum is that it is sometimes there, 
and sometimes not, and therefore cannot be a room mode because if it were, it 
would always be there?

I'm not sure that this invalidates the hypothesis. There could be a number of 
reasons why the hum is more evident at some times and not others.

Can you be more specific?
