Hi Francis You dont say what voltage the line is or if IT IS overhead. Many modern homes that get the Hum would be in similar position to yours. I think we have to ask what signals are on the power line and how are they different from the old days.
In Britain the Hum predates cellphones and started about when Pumped Storage Hydropower started. In many countries the Hum has started when wind power and smart grid technology started. Just look at the new Hum database map to see what I mean. The common denominator is dirty electricity and a coherent airborne or seismic sub harmonic wave.
