There are a bunch of ways and i will just tell you my favorite and then let
others tell you theirs, allowing a wide array of answers...
he heh
I create however many voices i want for the song and then i go to work making
the phrase thta will make up the song. I do this all in one section and use
the second pattern mode screen to bring these on and off. then i have a list
of all the tracks voices and their settings and a list of each phrase and
which track it can come on to. if you want to build things then you can just
rotate f2 and change phrases as you go then if you have a very different
sounding break with a lot of phrase changes, then you can set up that break
on another section to be switched to after the build is finished. Thats
pretty nice for me and if you want a definite song like in song mode you can
rehearse it in pattern mode then just copy all the phrase data for all the
parts you need onto a song at the right measures(hopefully you take note of
this in the little rehearsal) and then you don't need to pay attention to
whats nex and you can focus on the mix itself.
A nice tip for general purposes, i think, is that if you use the rm1x's
sounds exclusively or partially(specifically the endings of songs), you will
notice the trailings of voices are cut off sharply when you change styles.
they actually seem to be being played in the voice of the corresonding track
in the next style. so if you donn't use all the tracks and you know what
voice ends it, then you can use alternating track numbers and put the voices
of the last style onto the unused tracks in the next style so that you can
have a clean ending and not a blip or abrupt fuzz noise, etc.
hope this helps :P
