I recently started using my RM1X with Ensoniq ASR-10.
Makes a killer combo, since the two complement each other nicely
(ASR-10 has an awesome sound, but rather clunky sequencer).

I don't have any insightful tips for now. Frankly, there isn't much more
to it than hooking up the MIDI cables :-)
