1 alternative: Go back to song mode. There is a job, the exact name and number of which I don't know offhand, that allows you to extract a section of a song, and export it to a pattern. Also, use the midi data filter to filter as much as possible. The RM1x likes to send all kinds of info that can screw up other machines.
