constant signals & recording questions

I recently purchased the rm1x and have these two issues:

1- With the rm1x connected to my Opcode Studio 3 midi interface, the rm1x seems to be outputing a constant signal. The in/out lights are constantly flashing very faintly on my Studio 3 (they flash brighter with midi signals). These signals cannot be midi because my sampler (a3000) and my tone module (fs1r) midi indicators are not flashing. The set-up works perfectly with both sampler and module responding to midi during playback and recording. I've changed some parameters in the utility mode but can't get the lights to stop. Does the RM1X send a timing signal? Ive tried different settings for timing in the utility mode but can't seem to get the signals to turn off. They are very annoying as ther flash constantly while nothings happening!

2- When recording in grid mode ( drums on track 1), how come i can't hear the other tracks (a baseline on track 9, for example)? I can hear all the other tracks in the other recording modes: replace and overdub. Is there something amiss? Under setup the, out channels are setup to TG.
