H2 will finish playing the pattern in progress after deselect. This is intentional from what I see. I can only guess that the interface is tailored for live performance. You can toggle patterns on and off, and still select and edit patterns without them playing which is something you would want for live performance situations. But it's awkward for standard composition editing where you expect to hear what you are currently looking at. I was thinking that maybe there should be another playback mode added. A "Performance" mode in addition to Song and Pattern modes. The Performance mode would alter the interface in a way that is suited for live performance, while Pattern and Song mode would be better suited for composition workflows.
