I'm interested. I've also been looking for ways to have a headless setup for old hardware in live gigs. So... yes, I'm interested. DISCLAIMER: THE FOLLOWING IS JUST RAMBLING. Read at your own risk. :-) Before embarking on this, it might be worthwhile to do a little navel gazing and consider how Hydrogen fits into Free Audio Software. Hydrogen is often the first program that a user runs into, and it's really, really easy to use. It's also cross-platform, so it's one of the few "cool free apps" that I can recommend to my friends. (Viz. http://gabesrocklog.blogspot.com/2008/09/hydrogen.html) As things get more advanced, we see that H2 is an integrated sequencer and sampler. On the one hand "competing" with sequencers like seq24, midish (a command line sequencer), muse, non sequencer, and rosegarden. On the other hand "competing" with samplers like specimen and LinuxSampler. So, it would be worth considering why (and how) someone would use H2 for a non-gui solution rather than, say, LinuxSampler. It's possible that we just need to improve the GUI performance. I'm sure all those real-time meters are eating up CPU time (but I haven't done any profiling to this end).
