When I used NOTES, I set it to never notify me when mail arrived. With OUTLOOK, I have an envelope icon appear on the tooltray. I never let e-mail interrupt me when I'm working. My BlackBerry's (personal & corporate) never buzz, beep, flash or fart. E-mail is checked first thing in the morning, at lunch, or just before leaving. If it's urgent, call, or visit in person. E-mail is to facilitate the work process, not interrupt it. A pox on the houses of those who invented e-mail.
