I didn't see the message you're referring to so I haven't seen the article.

But fewer and fewer sites select their computer platforms these days.    Their
primary focus is software, not hardware.   They shop around for the software
they want before making any hardware decisions.

Companies convert to Sun when the software they want runs on Sun.

When IBM wants to expand their mainframe business, they need to show that this
Solaris application will run better on Linux on an IBM mainframe.
