As for the impact, we use parallel sysplex with rolling IPLs to maintain more or less continuous availability. But multiple instances of a CICS region will use the same data. I can take down regions one at a time, but the data needs to be available to all the remaining regions. Unless we use one of the concurrent products mentioned by others in this thread, we would need all sharing regions down to reorg each shared catalog. In other words, an outage--because having a running MVS without client applications is effectively an outage. . . .
