There is an Internet convention to use "re: " in replies, regardles of
local language, and to not prepend re: if it is already there. There is
also a convention for indicating the previous topic when changing the
subject completely.

Some software has code to recognize the conventional prefixes and
suffixes, so sticking to them makes the subjects more manageable for
messages within existing threads. For new threads a local IBM-MAIN
convention might be desirable.
