Yes, according to z/OS V1R9.0 UNIX System Services Planning GA22-7800-12. 

Spawn is not the same as fork, and there are environmental variables to 
influence/control the various behaviors such as _BPX_BATCH_SPAWN and 
_BPX_SHAREAS.

We have several batch jobs that spawn (forked) additional address spaces
with a number append to the jobname. These jobs execute BPXBATCH or
BPXBATSL. Is there a way to have these jobs use the current job address
space instead of starting a new one?
