Really, the more I think about it the more I think XEDIT should be ported to 
ISPF in its entirety. (i.e. REXX primary and prefix/line commands, multiple 
split 
screens, etc.)

Actually my (then) boss first suggested it at Share Melbourne (Australia) 
about 25 years ago and was met with blank expressions by the rest of the 
(mostly MVS) crowd.

Really I whilst I find the ISPF editor reasonably efficient most of the time, 
XEDIT ran rings around it in almost every area. I can't think of a single thing 
that the ISPF editor does better.

How does one replace VARBLANK? In what way are picture strings a 
replacement for ARBCHAR?

CURLINE comes in sooo handy at times

REXX Line commands, yes please. 

Cursor screen, when needed is invaluable.

The XEDIT change command is often streets ahead of ISPF 

Gee, and I haven't used XEDIT for about 25 years.
