The GUI does suck. However, WSA provides a lot of other capabilities too. Such as the ability to use the ISPF editor to edit files on your workstation or use a workstation editor to edit a data set on the host. You can also issue workstation commands from your TSO session. My favorite is ISPF's FILEXFER service which makes it easy to write Rexx functions to transfer files between your workstation and the host. (It's as fast as FTP but, IMO, is much easier to set up.)
