If I got it right, MFN thinks that it has attached a DASD, but instead of I/O to a real DASD, it writes and reads from a file on PC or Linux using TCP/IP.
I once asked how it was possible to fake attaching a device like tape or DASD and how was it done. I got a one word answer: STARTIO I wasted more than an hour digging through IBM docs looking for it, and it wasn't until I asked on this list did someone explain it to me. Then I found the undocumented macro. Lindy -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:IBM-MAIN@bama.ua.edu] On Behalf Of Shmuel Metz (Seymour J.)
