When the ISPF editor finds a search target in the current screen, it merely highlights it rather than scrolling. I found the contrary behavior of XEDIT, always scrolling the target to a fixed position on the screen, infuriating and wasted far too much time writing search macros in XEDIT to try to emulate the ISPF behavior.
Alas, most of the remainder of ISPF has not assimilated the editor's cleverness here. Member lists, SDSF, and the SMP/E panels all scroll the most recently active item to the top of the screen, not even showing much prior context. People tell me this behavior is changing for the better, or perhaps I can fix it with a macro. But I'm trying to swear off writing macros; it's not what I get paid for. -- gil -- StorageTek INFORMATION made POWERFUL ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
