Now if I were King, this is the way you would do SMP/E...

As you rightly pointed out, what you are doing works for what you are
doing. Customers are happy. You are happy and can get your job done.
Which is what the customers want and pay for, isn't it? And their system
doesn't fall over or crash because of your SMP/E style.

Can it be done better, probably. Is it worth it, well that's your call.
Just remember that years of good stuff (attaboys) get wiped out by one
aw$hit.
