This is amazing, I still have two 3490-C2A on IBM maintenance. I check the Sales manual on the C2A and they were withdrawn from marketing in 1998 and were replace by the F1A, but still don't have a service discontinued date.
I have a spare unit for use as parts. Last year I still had 3480 still under maintenance. Does anybody expected the 3490 will be supported forever ? Does any *serious* customer still use 3490 for production ? Are there any alternatives, i.e. 1. Run unsupported HW 2. Buy spare HW as a reserve 3. Get rid of 3490 and start using more "contemporary" HW for tape processing and CD/Internet for software installations. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
