John,

We have been using the Linux based HMC's here since last year. We have
two z9 boxes (and EC and BC). We have found the LINUX HMC's to be
easier to use (especially via the web interface), than the old OS/2 ones
were. One of the biggest differences is in the local user interface, it
behaves like Linux, so you have to worry about the right click and drag
issues. Other than having to apply an EC for daylight savings time
changes, they have been working great for us.

We will be doing a "suicide swap" of our z890 (2086-A02) to a z9BC
(2096-S02/T02) on 15Apr2007. I've been told that we will get a new HMC
which is Linux based instead of the old OS/2 based HMC. I've heard
that
the Linux based HMC is "not as nice" as the OS/2 based version. Any
opinions from those who have gone before?

Feel free to reply directly to me. But you'll need to copy my email
from
the header. I think.
