Forgive me, John, but such a policy is baloney. This severely curtails your ability to do your work. At the last shop I worked for, I had 3 logonids, because I needed them. The primary ID was for use on the Production LPAR. The second ID I usually worked with on the Test LPAR (non-sysplex). The third ID was used in case IDs 1 and 2 were busy and I needed to do yet something else (like to "fight a fire" or to look why it took so long for ID 1 to get the task done.) All the systems programmers and some of the applications and even Operations people had more than one logonID. Why? Because it allowed them to get their job done better. Bottom line: IMHO, you have a valid business case to make to management to get a second ID assigned.
