As in intercepting the call by some "outside entity" before the subroutine
is entered, or, after the subroutine has been entered?

Both can be accomplished, although the latter is much easier.

Subject: COBOL called subroutines

.is it possible to trap the name of a program making a call to a subroutine?
.IBM COBOL support did not seem to think so, but thought better check with
"THE LIST".
