I don't know that I agree with you on that one. My job is justified, in
part, by Service Request Tickets and how fast I can respond to them.
They are a management-easy way to show that I am doing something that
somebody actually wanted, not just something that I dreamt up myself. Of
course, very simple things are done via email. But if I think that
something is going to take a few hours, rather than off-the-cuff, then I
want a ticket. Programmers sometimes have the same reaction that
yourself, and others, have of thinking it is a waste of time and effort.
Not to me it isn't!
