IEFTMS7 IPL DATE MORE THAN 8 DAYS FROM LAST IPL
IEFTMS3 PREVIOUS IPL DATE = date
IEFTMS8 VERIFY DATE = date OR 'HELP'
Reason: The current system date is eight or more days beyond the last BrightStor CA-1
initialization date.
Action: Enter HIGHDATE to initialize BrightStor CA-1. If the IPL date is incorrect, reset
the date and rerun TMSINIT.

But I cannot determine what the differences between the two messages IEFTMS7 and IEFTMS8. I think with IEFTMS7 it may not require the HIGHDATE response. But does require the HIGHDATE with the IEFTMS8.

Aren't the three messages always issued together? I haven't had to deal
with TMS in a long time, but I always found this to be a PITA. Apparently
CA hasn't yet realized
1. That it is unusual indeed for an MVS system to be IPLed only 8 days after
the last IPL. 2. That all mainframes have a good hardware clock.

Perhaps it was a decent sanity check 30 years ago, but today it makes no sense.

I agree, I have always wondered why they didn't update their stored
date every midnight so the message would only come out if CA1 hadn't
been running for more than a day or two (or was out of sync the other
direction).
