I just tried on Hummingbird HostExplorer 12.0.0.122. It almost does what the OP wanted. When you paste (^V) in insert mode, it moves the character(s) at the 3270 cursor and to the right of the 3270 cursor, to the right, just as if you had keyed them in by hand. So does x3270. That is:
AAAA BBB Cut BB, place the 3270 cursor on the second A, paste, the result is ABBAAA.
