Thanks. > why not AUTO
Trying to keep things simple. Trying to avoid one more piece in the puzzle if possible. Nothing whatsoever against AUTO specifically or the CBT tape in general. > issue SLEEP on schedule Great idea. I will look into that. > Self-perpetuating job, that submits itself as its last step Something about that bothers me. A failure would end the chain until manual intervention restarted it. I know, I am not being entirely logically consistent here. Charles, Why don't you grab a copy of AUTO from the CBT tape. It has a scheduler function. We use it on Dallas to schedule the SLEEP command after business hours to save some costs. We also have a schedule set up to do ADRDDSU backups and an offsite FTP. You could also have a job that submits itself to the internal reader when it completes, code it as TYPRUN=HOLD and have AUTO release it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
