Friend's story, from back when PROFS was corporate email, on VM.

They did a forklift CPU upgrade over a weekend, so system was powered off from
Friday evening to Sunday morning. Sunday when it came back up, SPOOL was
suspiciously empty (PROFS saved unread mail in SPOOL). He looked at the
operator's console, saw that a COLD start had been done, and went to the
operator on duty and politely (for a 6'3" Marine) asked something along the
lines of "WHY THE **** DID YOU DO A COLD START?!" and the operator said, "Well,
it had been down since Friday, so I figured it had to be cold by now."

Rumor has it the operator is buried somewhere behind the data center.

I'm not 100% sure I believe any of it, but I like it.
