We're using them for communication between REXX programs on multiple LPARs, as well as NJE.
The REXX programs are used for synchronizing test events. However many CTC exploiters can use TCP/IP links instead of CTC (see below). It can be used for NJE, because nowadays NJE can use TCP/IP links. Of course there's still natural limitation to LPARs inside single CPC. Last, but not least: it's free.
