It's particularly important to make sure that the JES2 path manager is not turned on for your RSCS link. You need PATHMGR=NO on the NODE def in JES2, and then one or more CONNECT statements to define the static connection between JES2 and RSCS, and any ROUTEs that RSCS may have. Tony H.
