I have a customer with two z9's. They have an identical I/O configuration on each machine. If they need to do maintenance on one z/VM, they bring down the Linux machines on one system and bring them back up on the other system. They essentially have their own hot site, it isn't exactly 24X7, but it's real, real close.

Bringing the Linuxes down on one an up on the other can be done in a matter of minutes (and not too many of them).

We have Linux guests running on VM, DB2connect is running on Linux.
The application DB2 Connect requires 24X7 for 365 dsys. We have one VM now. What's the best way to prepare for this. We need to ipl VM for the upgrade, system abends or system config changes. If we create a second VM, how do we switch from one to another VM.

Thanks,

Ann
