Hello Alan, What you have stated here about FileZilla is interesting. I know am about to ask something that has to do with another operating system, but in seeing about what happens with VM it might help me better understand an take a similar route with VSE and get it resolved with the vendors. I am having a problem using a VSE SSL FTP client to talk to a FileZilla server. Everything we have done so far works except the DIR command to get a directory listing. So I am assuming that the LISTFORMAT UNIX for VM FTP is possibly for that problem and maybe others. Is that because FileZilla only recognizes UNIX? Any insight would help thanks.

If you don't specify a default directory in CHKIPADR, the default is <userid>.191. Since the userid is passed to CHKIPADR, creating a default directory of "<server>:<userid>." is easy. As an aside, I also use CHKIPADR to set LISTFORMAT UNIX for those who use non-VM-aware FTP clients like FileZilla. At some point I should consider changing my SRVRFTP CONFIG to have LISTFORMAT UNIX and SYSTEMGREETING OFF so that auto-detect FTP clients won't get confused. Alan Altmark z/VM Development IBM Endicott
