Actually that happened sometime before 5.3 I think maybe in 5.1 or even 4.4.. I have 2 suggestions. a) copy your old FLIST MODULE to the 5.3 system, it will work fine. or 2)Get one of the 'enhancements' from the download page. FULLIST comes to mind.
