Or you could use MAILABLE, which puts one or more files into an ASCII envelope and is self-extracting. Supports both LISTFILE-style filespecs and file lists in a file (as plain fileids or in CMS EXEC format). There's a version at http://zvm.sru.edu/~DOWNLOAD/MAILABLE.EXEC which is almost current -- the only changes since then are some better error handling if VMFPLCD (used internally) fails, and a change to a comment. Novell is using it for distributing the SLES10 DDR images. ...phsiii
