I would imagine that everyone who is steadfast in their committment to manage USER DIRECT themselves likes being able to use update mode, control, and aux files to track updates. But in case you DO accidentally move all the records around and get them mixed up (never teach a 6-year-old how to use XEDIT, by the way), you can sort them back into place. :-) Alan Altmark z/VM Development IBM Endicott
