Hello Tom,

        As I read the DS6800 manual, it seems that the initial format
was suppose to do all these neat checks.

        The 2nd level system is mine for support and fun stuff.

        I had the improper format problem on the older EMC dasd.

        Really interesting abends and problems.

        I am getting a read on 'NO FORMAT' required.
