This should work fine on a z800. When you updated the activation profile on the HMC, are you sure you updated the profile that was assigned to be loaded at power on? Go to the same activation profile screen where you selected Allow Dynamic I/O checkbox and make sure the 'Assign Profile' button is pushed. Once you click Assign Profile, you will see a blue text next to the profile name that says something like 'Selected for Activation'. If this is not there right now, it means you did not activate with the profile you made the change on. Once you select this profile for activation, you have to perform another power-on-reset.
