Yes, that is true - took me a while to straighten out that - but in
fairness to the saddle/pad the people I got Doppa from were using it
without a pad underneath it - they said it was a bareback pad -and if
they did anything they would throw a towel under it.  It definitely
needs a channel pad under it and I'm still not sure it would work very
well.  Doppa's poor withers were sore to the point you could just
point at them and she would flinch.  If you tried to put your fingers
underneath the saddle at the withers and ride, I really believe it
would crush your fingers beyond use.
