We use a crupper on Gat. She's built downhill, has a slight sway, and has a forward girth groove so without a crupper the saddle seems to inch up her neck. When I bought her they had always used a foregirth and to me that seemed like a lot of strapping and leather under her armpits and girth area. When I dismount I first remove both feet from the stirrups, swing my leg over and jump down away from sliding down the horses side. I think they call that an emergency dismount, not sure. V
