Afaik this topic is always a head banger. I'd appreciate it if you could
write some markdown documentation and send it to the dev tracker for
icinga2.
There already is a space reserved for that, but it still waits for
community contributors :)
http://docs.icinga.org/icinga2/latest/doc/module/icinga2/chapter/monitoring-remote-systems#agent-based-checks-snmp-traps
Fair enough,
I'll write down my two use cases on the weekend and submit it.
That would be awesome and help me a lot :)
I tried already to help me with the documentation but well as known there isnt
any about that topic so far.
Icinga is a community project - everyone is invited to contribute, also for the
documentation parts. And the markdown syntax (doc/*.md) on Icinga (Web) 2 is
commonly used at github, there's even an online editor (http://dillinger.io)
for that. Sending a git patch isn't that hard either - there's some hints on
the dev wiki:
https://wiki.icinga.org/display/Dev/Developer+Guidelines#DeveloperGuidelines-SendingaPatch
So, if you're thinking about writing a howto or internal documentation, please
skip it, and contribute to the upstream documentation. The community will thank
you for that, and you'll certainly have one single place to look at, and not
your google friend :)
Kind regards,
Michael
