All but seven races of the first round robin were completed today at the Hap Moore Trophy Team Race. The morning races were sailed in a north-northeasterly with strong outgoing current. When the current in the channel got too strong to make positive progress upwind, the race committee moved the course as far into the CGA mooring field as possible. In the afternoon the breeze took a hard swing to the left to more of a northwesterly, which caused the next and final course adjustment of the day. Racing was called at 4:15 when the breeze completely shut off.
Thank you to the Coast Guard undergrads who worked hard all day keeping the course square and the scores updated. Thanks also to Kerry Sullivan and her team of umpires (will list them all tomorrow). We have seven races left to complete the first round robin and then will go into a gold and silver round robin. First warning will be at 10:00. Scores can be found here: www.tinyurl.com/2011HapMoore.
