This blog post appeared on Planet KDE last year:
http://74.125.77.132/search?q=cache:QwtMmv_HRD8J:hemswell.lincoln.ac.uk/~padams/comments.php%3Fy%3D08%26m%3D09%26entry%3Dentry080919-213307+why+burgers+should+be+made+of+java&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&client=opera

The actual link is:
http://hemswell.lincoln.ac.uk/~padams/index.php?entry=entry080919-213307
But that doesn't work anymore!

Anyway, do read the comments on the above post too. They are quite
informative.

Do you mean that your program did not finish and ate up all the CPU
time? Isn't that normal (unless you have a multi processor system and
the OS shares the load)?
Anyway, try the same program in C or C++ on the same machine and see how
that goes.
