FOSS is about meritocracy and if you dont know who Karanbir, googling helps. Karanbir is a lead developer in the CentOS project which provides a free version of RHEL which is not the same as "working for CentOS". Most positions in open source projects are not paid jobs, which makes them even more important in the eyes of the community.
