Thanks for the feedback. I am using postfix but it is currently in the closed intranet
environment. for external email i am still stuck with using the smtp and pop3 services
of our host provider.

my smtp is configured to verify user id and password before allowing access and is not
an open relay. This problem was there initially when i bought SMTP services from the
company, but soon after i had them change it to a closed relay.

different domains for localhost and internet is a good idea! I'll work on it!

Cheers!

Jim>Hi folks!

Since the last two days i have been trying to send messages to this list and they were
returned due to palcom server being marked as a spam server! I have gone through the
evidence at the spews.org.To make matters worse, it records that Mr. Raju of ilugd.org
(email of [EMAIL PROTECTED] as recorded in the evidence) maintains this server, or is
the contact person for this. This is rather depressing! :(

Two possibilities.

1. You have configured your mail server to relay for people
other then yor domain. or some other kind of relay. I understand
from your previous mail that you are running Postfix.

Relaying is a BAD BAD thing and if anyone uses your server to
send spam you will be blacklisted within a few hours.
Try reading the "block" mail that comes back it will tell you
which antispam server has blacklisted you.

fix: close the relay. contact the antispam server's admin.

2.The domain for your mail server is not configured properly,
Postfix givs this problem. I have scratched my head hairless for
more then 3 days to figure this one out. all my messeges kept
bouncing. So, probably your mail server is also bouncing
messages and the same antispam sever has blacklisted you.

fix: assign different domains for localhost and the Internet.

Hope it help.
PS: these are just guesses. please provide more info like
mail.log and stuff.
