hi

tata indicom has started providing net connections through wireless
phone. the charges for their 24 hrs net access are 1500 per month and
they say the maximum speed that you can get is 115.2 kbps and 40-60 kbps
on an average.

i was searching through list archives, but couldn't find any reference
of anyone using it successfully. has anyone tried using it to connect to
internet through linux? calling tata was of not much help as they said
they don't support linux.

i am currently on 24online cable internet. it automatically disconnects
as soon as it rains, has crawling speeds, caching of pages on the server
and many other issues. so am planning to get a wireless connection which
i think will resolve all my problems and will get good speed too as its
from tata/vsnl. any comments?
