I have had this problem with IRCTC for a long time. I use State Bank
of India for payment when I book a ticket at IRCTC. If I try to do it
on firefox/linux (and I have tried it more than once), IRCTC takes you
to the bank website for the payment, the transaction is made, and then
it does not go further. You lose your money (it is debited back later)
and get no ticket.

The only workaround I have found so far is to find a Windoze machine
somewhere and book the ticket from there.
