Hotwayd provides a pop3 and smtp interface to the webdav implementation of hotmail. And hotmail can talk to outlook via webdav for now (it may get discontinued in a while). I've used standard mail clients to do pop3 and smtp access is this way for years to hotmail. So, maybe rip out the relevant code for abuse elsewhere?
