I'm afraid you have it completely wrong. Generic invitations to social networking sites are taboo here. If you feel there's a site worth visiting, send a *personal* mail to the list -- hey folks, I found this site, it has helped me, please join up. Even then it may not pass muster unless it's (a) relevant to everyone on the list (not just a few members of an organisation) and (b) strongly related to FOSS and/or Linux.
