I have also sent a mail to htwo...@hindustantimes.com and
lett...@hindustantimes.com regarding this. Here is my mail:

Sir/Madam

I have been a regular reader of Hindustan Times since my childhood. But I
have not seen such article which has been published without any previous
research. This is with regard to the article "Netbooks may rob you of
privacy" published on 3rd March 2009 at
http://www.hindustantimes.com/StoryPage/StoryPage.aspx?id=d1b8ded8-f7be-448b-88b2-7226ac01200dwhich
has been courtesy of Reuters.

The article highlights the inefficiency of netbooks in client data security
because of their cheap rates and absence of good firewalls and antivirus
software. Here, I would like to state that the article only takes into
account the Microsoft Windows operating system and other propriety software
which have a price tag. There are many other free and open source software
which are available which can be used on any computer, whether its a netbook
or a notebook or a personal computer. A 'netbook' doesn't really include the
software part also. You can always install free operating systems such as
Linux on them and forget worrying about viruses. They have inbuilt firewalls
which protect you from outside attacks.

The company 'Symantec' is antivirus software maker for windows and macintosh
because the virus problem is with these operating systems only. If you
search for some virus information on Linux, you will get to know that there
are much less viruses for Linux systems. These antivirus companies charge
for things that are needed only in operating systems that do not come for
free. Ask them, if they make antivirus software for Linux, the answer will
be no. As everything in Linux is free, its all about freedom. But these
companies make viruses, then make antivirus for them to get their businesses
running.

Please do a little research on the matter. Ask your technical guys about
Linux and open source. Hoping for a favourable article in the subsequent
publications.
