Hi Mohit This is a great endeavour.
Why don't you consider network booting your PCs? That way you won't need to install Linux in 500 machines. Just build a master image on a server and let all units share it. The local HDD can be used for swap, since 1GB might be a little low for, say, running Netbeans or Eclipse (don't know what stuff you'll use). What prompted your management to make the switch? Maybe the same dose can be used in other organisations. Cheers!
